Apollo Brown & Skyzoo Know Their Worth on “No Discounts”

Apollo Brown & Skyzoo - No Discounts

Apollo Brown & Skyzoo Put a Price on Sacrifice With ‘No Discounts’

There comes a point when generosity starts costing too much.

That realization sits at the center of ‘No Discounts,‘ the new single from Apollo Brown and Skyzoo, a record built around the moment when sacrifice stops being an obligation, and self-preservation becomes necessary. With Apollo Brown behind the production and Skyzoo handling the microphone, the longtime collaborators turn an everyday phrase into a statement about knowing your worth after years of giving pieces of yourself away.

‘No Discounts’ arrives as the latest look at the duo’s forthcoming album, Luxury Tax, scheduled for September 25, 2026. The project reunites Apollo Brown and Skyzoo for a full-length collaboration a decade after their celebrated 2016 album, The Easy Truth. The upcoming album is being released through Escapism Recordings and First Generation Rich.

What makes ‘No Discounts’ work is how naturally its central idea fits both artists.

Skyzoo has spent much of his career writing about ambition from the perspective of someone who understands what ambition actually costs. Success in his records is rarely presented as a simple victory lap. There are relationships, responsibilities, compromises, neighborhoods, expectations, and consequences attached to it. His writing has always been interested in what happens around the achievement—not simply the achievement itself.

Here, that perspective becomes increasingly personal.

As Skyzoo explains:

“The idea behind ‘No Discounts’ is centered around what we all have had to give up at some point or another, all for what we see as the greater good.”

That sacrifice can initially feel worthwhile. You help someone else. You put the culture ahead of yourself. You accept less because the larger objective matters more. You make decisions based on loyalty instead of immediate reward.

But eventually the accounting changes.

Skyzoo describes reaching the point where you have to acknowledge that other people have benefited from your willingness to sacrifice and essentially tell them: this time, there are no discounts.

It is an especially fitting concept for two artists whose careers have been built largely outside the machinery that tells Hip-Hop artists what success is supposed to look like. Apollo Brown and Skyzoo have established identities strong enough that listeners know what their names represent. Neither has needed to abandon the musical language that brought their audience to them in the first place.

That history gives ‘No Discounts’ additional weight.

Apollo Brown once again provides the kind of musical foundation that allows Skyzoo’s writing to breathe. Rather than treating production as decoration around the rapper, the soundscape functions as part of the conversation. Apollo’s approach has long understood one of the fundamental strengths of producer-and-emcee albums: when the producer knows the rapper’s tendencies, the beat can create space for the words instead of competing against them.

Skyzoo uses that space exactly as expected. His performance is controlled rather than theatrical, allowing the idea behind the record to carry the weight. The title itself becomes a philosophy. “No Discounts” isn’t simply about demanding more money or refusing to negotiate. It is about understanding that constantly reducing your own price—financially, emotionally, creatively or professionally—eventually teaches people to undervalue what you bring to the table.

That distinction matters.

There is also something refreshingly grown about the premise. Hip-Hop has always talked about knowing your worth, but “No Discounts” approaches the subject after the years of experience that determine what that worth actually is. This isn’t the confidence of someone announcing what they plan to become. It is the perspective of artists who have already accumulated enough history to understand what they gave up along the way.

Skyzoo makes that connection explicit when discussing his relationship with Apollo Brown. Both artists, he says, have succeeded by doing things on their own terms, even when those terms required sacrifices in the name of honoring Hip-Hop and paying things forward.

Now the balance shifts.

They can continue contributing to the culture without automatically placing themselves last.

That philosophy also makes Luxury Tax an increasingly appropriate title. A luxury tax, by definition, suggests that reaching a certain level comes with an additional cost. Applied to the careers of Apollo Brown and Skyzoo, the phrase takes on several meanings: the price of independence, the burden accompanying achievement, and the realization that longevity itself has value.

The album follows the recently released “God Given,” which introduced this new chapter of their partnership. Luxury Tax will mark their first collaborative full-length since The Easy Truth, making the September release a reunion ten years in the making.

There is no need for Apollo Brown and Skyzoo to recreate what they accomplished a decade ago. The more interesting proposition is hearing what ten additional years of life, work and perspective have done to their chemistry.

“No Discounts” suggests they understand that distinction.

The hunger may still be there, but the perspective has changed. These are no longer two artists simply proving that their styles belong together. They’re examining what it costs to remain committed to those styles, to maintain standards, to serve the culture and to keep moving forward without allowing everyone else to profit from your willingness to compromise.

Sometimes paying it forward is necessary.

Sometimes sacrifice is necessary.

And sometimes you finally have to charge full price.

No discounts.

Luxury Tax arrives September 25, 2026. The album is currently listed for digital release, with physical editions including vinyl, CD and cassette also announced. https://ffm.to/luxurytax
