Grab a plate, grab a fork, grab a spoon, because Savannah rapper Yung Damon! is cooking up new music to serve up thanks to a new distribution deal he just signed with Rocstar World, a subsidiary of Sony Music Group.
“My music got in the hands of Rob Terell of Rocstar World,” said Yung Damon! of his recent signing. “I was pushing the single, ‘Edsu,’ and it caught his attention.”
“Edsu,” (an acronym for Eat Dat S*** Up) is one of Yung Damon’s strongest singles. The buzz-worthy track was produced by Italian producer Elusive and features an infectious, sing-along hook that crowds and listeners immediately respond to. “’Edsu’ really opened the door for everything,” said Yung Damon!. “It’s been like a cheat code with that song. Every time I get it to the DJs, it’s been played everywhere.”
The catchy song has had solid rotation on E93 Savannah Power, Hot94 in Daytona, 106 Jacksonville R2 Radio, and even on stations in Phoenix, Ariz., and beyond. His music has even reached Africa, where it has turned up in TikTok dance videos.
‘A natural entertainer’
Yung Damon! has faced his share of ups and downs during his career trajectory. Yung Damon! was born in Savannah but spent a few years in Atlanta when he was in high school, and it was there that he developed an interest in rap music. In his early twenties, he began focusing in earnest on applying his keen and witty writing skills to making music and immersing himself in the Atlanta rap scene.
“I try to be relatable, but with punchlines,” said Yung Damon!. “I make catchy music, but still with substance and storytelling that people can relate to.”
At one point early in his career, Yung Damon! was on the fast-track to success in Atlanta where he was working with A&R at Atlantic Records. It was during this period that he collaborated with rising stars like Diggy Simmons, opened for icons like 2 Chainz, and recorded tracks with major artists like Ty Dolla $ign.
Ultimately, Atlantic Records didn’t sign Yung Damon!, but he returned to Savannah to get back to the drawing board and continue grinding.
Yung Damon! is a natural entertainer and projects an abundance of charisma on stage. He has won over new fans at big events including the Scream Tour at Carowinds in Charlotte, N.C., the Orange Crush Festival at Tybee Island, opening for 2 Chainz at the Fort Valley State Homecoming, and performing at an NBA Charlotte Hornets game at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte.
His most recent performance was at Volapalooza at the University of Tennessee, where he took the stage at the Tennessee Volunteers’ after-party. “Edsu,” of course, made a big splash.
