DJ Give handles the production, providing the backdrop for Echo to take center stage. Rather than confusing confidence with unnecessary theatrics, “Cocky” embraces the mentality suggested by its title: sometimes an MC has to believe he’s better before anyone else does.
That attitude has always had a place in Hip-Hop.

From battling and braggadocious rhymes to the competitive nature that helped shape the culture, declaring yourself the best is practically part of the job description. Echo taps into that tradition here, approaching “Cocky” with the kind of presence that says approval isn’t required.
The collaboration works because the roles are clearly defined. DJ Give provides the production while Echo handles the microphone, allowing the record to stay focused on the chemistry between beat and MC.
Even the cover art refuses to play things safe. Its extreme close-up, stark black-and-white treatment and bright pink “COCKY” lettering create an intentionally abrasive image that immediately grabs attention. It isn’t polished for universal approval—and that fits the personality of the record.
“Cocky” ultimately finds Echo leaning into one of Hip-Hop’s oldest traditions: talk your talk, then have the bars to back it up.
