Pop Buchanan Shares A Personal Story On “Daffodils and Moses”

Pop Buchanan - Daffodils and Moses

Pop Buchanan releases “Daffodils and Moses,” a spiritual tribute to Fathers, Memory, and the Light That Survives Loss.

Pop Buchanan has released “Daffodils and Moses,” an emotional new single dedicated to his father and to the fathers of producers 6ix Pomona and Nudgi Nudge. The song blends live instrumentation with soul, blues, and heartfelt Hip-Hop storytelling, serving as the final single before Pop’s upcoming albumGod First,” arriving December 6.

The record is rooted in the last day Pop saw his father alive in September 1992. As a twelve-year-old walking home from school in Brooklyn, he sensed that something in the world felt different. When he reached his building, he found his father sitting in his Lincoln Continental without the usual music playing. After a long pause, his father rolled down the window and said I love you. Those were his final words before passing later that night.

The hook captures the spiritual weight of the experience: “The daffodils made sense of it all, the scent of the roses, the green on the lawn, the consciousness of Moses, the spirit of the Lord, chord and percussions, the singing in the soul.” The daffodils and roses symbolize the funeral and the memory of standing by the cemetery. The consciousness of Moses reflects the Old Testament scriptures that Pop turned to for comfort. The spirit of the Lord represents the presence he felt as his father transitioned, a presence that has stayed with him throughout his life and recovery.

“Daffodils and Moses” also honors the fathers of 6ix Pomona and Nudgi Nudge. Each artist brought the memory of his own father into the creation of the record, turning the song into a shared tribute built on grief, love, and faith.

Produced by 6ix Pomona with live instruments and warm soul textures, the track gives Pop the space to revisit childhood trauma, spiritual signs, and the long journey toward healing. The single sets the tone for “God First,” a reflective album about Pop’s early years in New York, the impact of losing his father, and the growth that followed through sobriety, creativity, and spiritual renewal.

“Daffodils and Moses” is available now on all streaming platforms. “God First” releases December 6.
