Pop Buchanan has released “Daffodils and Moses,” an emotional new single dedicated to his father and to the fathers of producers 6ix Pomona and Nudgi Nudge. The song blends live instrumentation with soul, blues, and heartfelt Hip-Hop storytelling, serving as the final single before Pop’s upcoming album “God First,” arriving December 6.
The record is rooted in the last day Pop saw his father alive in September 1992. As a twelve-year-old walking home from school in Brooklyn, he sensed that something in the world felt different. When he reached his building, he found his father sitting in his Lincoln Continental without the usual music playing. After a long pause, his father rolled down the window and said I love you. Those were his final words before passing later that night.
The hook captures the spiritual weight of the experience: “The daffodils made sense of it all, the scent of the roses, the green on the lawn, the consciousness of Moses, the spirit of the Lord, chord and percussions, the singing in the soul.” The daffodils and roses symbolize the funeral and the memory of standing by the cemetery.
