Veteran MC and producer J. Sands of Lone Catalysts’ new album “Cash Flow, Buddha & Shelter” is released today and available on all streaming platforms through his B.U.K.A. Entertainment label distributed by The Orchard. The 12-track project is a sonic throwback to Hip-Hop’s golden age featuring collaborations with Hip-Hop luminaries Chief Rocker Busy Bee, Sadat X of Brand Nubian, Masta Ace, MC Eiht, Edo.G, Chi-Ali, The World Famous Brucie B, Blu, and production from Sands, Rashad Thomas, DJ Parental, and Kulya Beats.
Drawing inspiration from a lyric in Nas’s iconic “New York State of Mind,” the album title “Cash Flow, Buddha & Shelter” reflects J. Sands‘ mindset during its creation. “That line from Nas’s ‘Illmatic’ album just hit me,” Sands says. “If it ain’t about cash, some good smoke, or improving my crib, I ain’t got time for it.” Sands expounds on the topics on the title track, featuring masterful scratching from original X-Ecutioners DJ Rob Swift. The album perfectly intersects storytelling, MCing, and social-political context.
