Abstract Mindstate Releases ‘Who Would’ve Thunk It’ Feat. Sly Pyper

Abstract Mindstate feat. Sly Pyper - Who Would've Thunk It

Fresh off a brief Euro tour with Slum Village, Olskool Ice-Gre and E.P. Da Hellcat, also known as the Chicago Hip-Hop duo Abstract Mindstate, took to Instagram today (7/1/2025) to officially announce the release date for their long-awaited new album The Art Project. Produced entirely by Young RJ of Slum Village, the album is finally set to release on July 18 via Honest Music/Barak With Love/Vydia. To hold fans over in this homestretch, the duo shares their new Sly Pyper-assisted single “Who Would’ve Thunk It” as a 24-hour free download, exclusively via Bandcamp.

This song is about a perfect relationship going south. If you’ve actively been in the dating scene you’ve probably experienced one of those where it felt like the stars aligned and it can’t possibly get any better. Then, out of nowhere, it takes a turn for the worse. And you and everyone around the relationship can’t believe it ended. All you can say is ‘Who Would’ve Thunk It’… It’s a conversation we’ve never put into song as a duo, but we’ve both experienced this in our own personal lives.” – Olskool Ice Gre

The Art Project is a result of the undeniable chemistry established between Slum Village and Abstract Mindstate while the two groups toured the Pacific Northwest and Europe together in 2022 and 2024, respectively. The album will serve as the duo’s full-length follow-up to their 2021 Kanye West-produced album Dreams Still Inspire.
